Extraction Method of Essential Oils
This method of extraction is used to remove essential oils from the seeds, nuts and rinds of plants, and it includes cold pressing or hot pressing.
Cold pressing is used to extract the essential oils from citrus rinds such as orange, lemon, grapefruit and bergamot. The shell are separated from the fruit, are ground or chopped and are then pressed. While hot pressing involves pressure of up to 15 tons per square inch, producing a heat of 65 to 150 ℃.
