Why choose feed pellets for feeding Livestock
There are many types of feed in the aquaculture production, classified according to the nutritional value, livestock species and feed forms, each feed has its own special requirements and uses. The feed mainly has 5 forms: liquid, powder, pellet, small block and extruded feed. Here are the basic info about the features and uses.
Powder feed: it is the basic form, it has low processing costs but more loss in the whole feeding process.
Liquid form: some large - scale farms make the feed into liquid form for special uses and easy transportation.
Extruded form: Extruded feed has better palatability and is easy to digest and absorb for young animals, and it is mainly used to feed fish as it is able to float in the water, and the breeder can adjust the feeding according to the feeding situation which can be observed.
Small block form: it is something like the pellet form, but it is mainly used to feed poultry, it is easy to control the food intake and keep the poultry healthy.
Pellet form: it is produced with feed pellet mill after steaming process to adjust the moisture, and then cooled to the final product, it would cost more but the nutrition loss is less, picky eaters are avoided, the pellet it produces has smooth surface and moderate hardness, the heat makes the pellet fully toasted and pathogenic microorganisms and parasites killed. For different species and ages of livestock, the size and shape of pellet should be different, and different additives shall be added.
